Job Corps

The Job Corps program is a training opportunity for economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 24.  Job Corps centers are located nationwide including three in Mississippi.  Job Corps centers teach a range of vocational skills, social skills, and employability skills that are designed to prepare graduates for entry-level employment.  During the training period, students may earn a GED, or in some centers a high school diploma.  The Job Corps Program offers free housing, meals, medical care as well as a clothing allotment and a modest allowance for personal needs.  2005 is the 40th anniversary of Job Corps.  To view a brief, historical video, select here.  Please note: you must use browsers Internet Explorer 5.0,  Netscape 7.2 , or higher versions.  Select here for more information about Job Corps, or e-mail us at pandm@mdes.ms.gov.
